About Us
Our Covenant
Believing that the teachings of Christianity are the best means of spiritual life, we do hereby covenant, in the presence of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, not only to maintain them in word, but to illustrate them with our lives; we covenant to love this church of the Lord Jesus Christ as our spiritual home; to yield to its decisions in whatever is not contradictory to the Word of God, and to cooperate in efforts to maintain these decisions; to attend its meetings of Sabbath worship and of social prayer; to unite with one another in remembering our Lord at the Sacrament of the Supper, and to contribute according to our ability toward the maintenance of a faithful ministry among us, and toward the spread of the Gospel throughout the world.

We covenant to sympathize with one another in trials, to rejoice with one another in prosperity, and to cooperate in all spiritual efforts to win fellow men to Christ and to His service.

Ed Palafox
These past several years of pandemic illness, economic instability, gun violence, heightened racial and ethnic discrimination, and unprecedented natural disasters have left many of us full of anxiety, uncertainty and, in many ways, isolated. Never has it been more important to find our way back to the tables of community and fellowship that have been largely sparse for so long.

As anyone who has attended our times of worship knows, all are welcome at the CCEW Communion Table... without exception and without reserve. As Christ opens his embracing arms, we do no less. But there are many other tables, many other places of welcome and grace.

In our classrooms and mealtimes, in our prayer meetings and study groups, in our bearing of one another’s burdens and joys... in all these many settings we seek to live out the Gospel of mercy and justice to every seeking soul.

I want you to know that there is a place for you at our many tables. You are welcome here... whatever has brought you to our hearth and heart. Whoever you are, wherever you’ve been, whomever you love and with whatever you bring. The Table stands open, as do our hearts of welcome and love. It’s time to return to the places God has set for us: to throw off the chains and yokes of seclusion and solitude, and to return to the familiar and life-giving rhythms of worship, learning, growing, and serving.

God delights in all that creation offers and in all we are invited to pursue together in the name of justice and joy. And in the name of Jesus, who sets the Table of Grace for all, we say “welcome.” Welcome to you, welcome to all, and welcome to all that we can be as a community of justice and joy.
